REAL LIFE

BY JAMES A. GALGANO

THE WORLD CRASHED THROUGH MY WINDOW THE OTHER DAY

LIKE A BRICK WRAPPED TIGHTLY

IN THE MILLENIUM OLD LAUNDRY OF MY SPECIES

FILLED WITH THE EXCREMENT

OF OUR BANKRUPT PHILOSOPHIES’

RATIONALE FOR DEVASTATING THE PLANET

OF ITS LOWER FOOD CHAIN EXISTENCE

EVEN ITS OWN KIND WHO THREATEN THEIR GOAL

OF DEVELOPING AND/OR PLUNDERING NATIONS

FOR THE WEALTH AND NOT THE GOOD

IF ANY IT MIGHT BRING

MAN'S INHUMANITY TO MAN

SHOWED ITS UGLY FACE TO ME

LIKE A STRIPTEASE HOPING TO DISGUST

RATHER THAN ALLURE

UNDISTURBED BY MY PROTESTATIONS

WHICH WERE SEEN AS ONLY A CHALLENGE

OR INVITATION TO IMPROVE

THE DEVIOUSNESS AND EFFECTIVENESS

OF ITS TORTUOUS METHODS

ALL IN THE NAME OF DEMOCRACY,

DEFENDING THE HOMELAND OR ITS RELIGION

MADE BY MAN IN THE DISTORTED IMAGE

OF IMAGINARY DEITIES

WHO IF TRULY EXISTED WOULD HAVE KILLED THEMSELVES

OR LEFT LONG AGO IN THE DEAD OF NIGHT,

HOPING NONE WOULD NOTICE THEIR IMPERFECTIONS

WHICH NOW WREAK HAVOC ON US ALL IN THEIR NAME

A CHILD WALKED INTO MY CLASSROOM

CRYING YESTERDAY

HER BROTHER HAD BEEN KILLED BY A STRAY BULLET

MEANT FOR ANOTHER

IT PASSED THROUGH HIS HEART

AND INTO THE BELLY OF A PREGNANT MOTHER

LEAVING ONE FOR DEAD AND TWO OTHERS

AT THE MERCY OF UNINSURED HEALTHCARE

HOW CAN YOU COMFORT THIS SORROW

HOW CAN YOU DERAIL THESE HORRORS

AND THEIR INCLEMENT DESPAIR

MY EMBRACE WAS ONLY TEMPORARY COMFORT

FOR THIS RANDOM LOSS OF INNOCENCE

WHAT WILL HAPPEN WHEN THOSE TEARS TURN

TO HATRED

AND STATISTICAL REVENGE ADDING TO THE SORROW

AS THE DOMINOE FALLS TOWARD ANOTHER TOMORROW

WITH AN EVER RIPPLING EXPANSION OF WOE

THIS IS THE REALITY WE DON'T SEE

ON THE COMMERCIAL NEWS

IN BETWEEN THE PRODUCTS THEY MAKE US CRAVE

FOR THEIR EXPANDING PROFIT MARGINS

THESE ARE THE DARKER ANGELS

WHO NOW ROAM FREELY ACROSS OUR PLANET

WITH THE BLESSING

OF QUESTIONABLY CHOSEN LEADERS CONSENT

WHILE WE SIT COMPLACENTLY

IN OUR LIVING ROOMS DYING

FROM THE CHEMICALS WE INGEST

WHILE TRANSFIXED ON PLASMA SCREENS

SURFING THE WEBS WE NOW FIND OURSELVES WITHIN

WHILE A NEWLY EVOLVED SPIDER DESCENDS

SLOWLY GRINNING IRONY’S SARCASTIC REFRAIN

JUST ANOTHER DAY IN THE LIFE OF A DYING SPECIES

DESCENDING SLOWLY ON THE PROVERBIAL FOOD CHAIN

MY PRIME MERIDIAN

BY JAMES A GALGANO

LONG AND LANKY LOVELINESS UNFOLDING WITHIN EACH EYE PASSING THROUGH

EACH DARKENED TUNNEL OF EMOTIONAL DEAD ENDS AWRY LEAD BY YOUR CELESTIAL LIGHT

INTO TOMORROWS RAINBOW OF QUESTION MARKS I WANDERED INTO YOUR CALM ALLURE

ALMOST DEMURE YOU SAT IN A MONA LISA POSE WHILE I PAINTED MY MASTERPIECE OF LOVE

NEVER TO BE WHILE GAZING INTO THE MIRRORS OF YOUR MIND TO SEE A FLICKER OF HOPE

WITH A HEART FILLED WITH CHERISH MEMORIES MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS GO WITH YOU

HAND IN HAND ,HEART AND SOUL ALONG LIFE'S LONG AND WINDING TOMORROW

I PRAY IF I NEVER MEET YOU ON THIS SIDE OF LIFE I WILL ONE DAY EMBRACE YOU BEYOND THESE MOMENTS BORROWED UNTIL THEN I LEAVE YOUR CHARMING GRACE

WHILE LEAVING A THOUGHT ON THE LIPS OF YOUR WONDROUS FACE

Eyes in search of answers

By James A. Galgano

These un-selected foolish thoughts reoccur without cue

Even while they misunderstand what we may have never knew

Unable to decipher each and every thought within view

Almost if asking why the sun also rises or why the sky looks blue

While there may be a scientific explanation for every action or consequence derived

One is left with many more questions in search of answers time will provide

Yet if there remains a need for clarity for clues upon which our memory relied

None are often never forthcoming no matter how long searched or implied

There is a point of no return from which we never discover all sought revealed

Like a PriceWaterhouse secured ballot voted upon yet continued to be concealed

Until disclosed without pomp or ceremony just mere announcement congealed

There only end will answers forever sought will eventually be seen real

In memory and hope

By James A. Galgano

There is now forever no longer an defensible excuse

Why on police enforcement are permitted to continue their abuse

Based unduly and unfairly upon race, color, class, or creed

Our police are here to protect and serve us all equally

Not just to uphold only privileged rights or those owning property

Our constitution was built upon the blood, protests and revolution

So that every citizen would be treated the same without disparity

Ensuring daily for all the right of life happiness and liberty

Our nation is based on laws and expanding rights through civil unrest

Focused upon improving the life and livelihood of all equally as a test

Whether in time of war or periods of relative calm and peace

People in our nation rose up to through collective action to make disparity cease

From abolition to civil war, during times of economic downturn or prosperity

From the struggle for civil rights for all to labors rights to organize collectively

Many in our population chose to make sacrifices of their lives and freedom

To ensure all rights and liberties would at last being honor and protected equally

No matter our race, color, class or ideology every life matters the same eternally

Our founders may have been imperfect but they built our nation upon laws

Which must be adhered to then changed or revised to correct their every flaw

In order to build a more perfect union establish justice and insure domestic tranquility

Peaceful protest and collective action have been used to effectuate change permanently

Thomas Jefferson once surmised change must unfortunately occur after blood been shed

To quench the thirst of liberty so through such sacrifice it be preserved and protected

Once more today we find ourselves once more upon the precipice of some hopeful tomorrow

Where our work to preserve a more perfect union continues despite all pain and sorrow

so we begin again
